Day 9 -- Self Control or Self Mastery

Self-control or Self-Mastery
1 Cor 9 Discipline is a way of developing self-control. Other aspects of what passes for 'normal life' get left behind in the focused, determined pursuit of a worthy goal. So it is also with spiritual discipline. By doing certain practices like daily fasting, or prayer in a regular, disciplined manner, you exercise the inner "muscles" of self-control. It becomes easier to tell yourself "no", easier to maintain focus and keep your eyes on the prize.
Who is in control? What is the goal? If you are set on the course of following Christ, then there are some things in life which will take you off course, that will take you down another path. The unimportant can seem important, the enjoyable can become addicting or enslaving maybe something is done "because it's there". It's as if your heart is drawn to another lover, which can turn into betrayal of the One who loves you. It's like being in a noisy room : the Spirit keeps calling to you, but unless you're focused on listening, the voice gets lost among the other noises. Self-control allows you to home in on the voice.
(my revelation is below)
My sister and I both came home with Concussions this week which causes confusion, loss of control or function of the mind temporarily, and unable to concentrate or feel certain things, I was unable to focus. and I caught myself wondering "why"....
Satan wasnt successful during the robbery, bomb threat etc.....so he tried to take mine and my sister's focus and Self Control or fruit of the spirit away by giving us a physical Head Concussion....he tried to take our self control and focus away....Thank you Lord for allowing me to understand what is going on with me ( part of the body), and allowing my accountability partner (my sister) to be here right here with me every step of the way!

We hear ya Lord! Thank you!!

p.s.
(still praying for you stacey)
