Fasting and Prayer Month
This month we as a church have been fasting and praying for God to move in our lives, our church, and in our community. Fasting isn't the easiest thing for me because my hunger cries out and I just want to eat. To deny that takes a lot of dedication, determination, and discipline. The one thing that God has really been speaking to me is that it shouldn't take a fast to have these three qualities in our lives. We should always be dedicated to the task that God has for us. His greatest command was that we love one another. Also we should have the determination to follow through with that even when it isn't recipricated back to us. Lastly, discipline is so hard because our body just cries out no and wants to run in the opposite direction. But when we apply these to our lives our spiritual life grows, our relationships with people grow, and our effectiveness grows. My challenge to myself is to continue to apply these principles even after this fast ends. That these principles become a permanent part of my life. As rough as it has been at times, it has been so neat to hear God in a more clear way. I don't have to ask others what He is saying but I am able to discern and discover God in a greater way. I know that He is doing that in your lives too.
